Rhinoplasty or a ‘nose-job’ is performed for difficulties in breathing, and also to improve the appearance of the face, especially when seen in profile. A long drooping tip as in this young man with an apparent hump in his nose can be dramatically improved by restoring a more handsome tip and balancing it with the dorsum or top of the nose. A strong nasal profile complements his strong chin.

Rhinoplasty is one of the most common procedures for teenage boys and young men, especially those who have received trauma in schoolboy and sporting activities. The procedure is usually carried out on an outpatient basis at the Double Bay Day Surgery.
