Q: I have a “ski jump” nose—what can I do about it?

A: The “ski jump” nose is usually caused by trauma or accident and sometimes, unfortunately, by previous over-zealous rhinoplasty. Men in particular can be embarrassed by a small, weak nose, which is often seen as unattractive and lacking masculinity. Most men want a good strong nose.

A strong projection to the nose can be achieved by nasal grafting using the patient’s own tissues to produce a more handsome and defined profile. I prefer to use grafts of cartilage and bone to reconstruct the “ski jump” nose.

I had rhinoplasty surgery 8 years ago and now have a ski jump nose very similar to the man pictured above. I have just recently heard about injections to fix this problem but am unsure whether secondary surgery using bone & cartlidge would be a better option.
