Educational Opportunities for Practitioners
Suturing Techniques 1:
- Learn about the basics of Suturing.
- If you are not comfortable in holding a needle holder, using a
pair of scissors and/or putting in simple or buried sutures, this
course is for you.
- If you are not keen to be sewing up lacerations, perhaps you would
be interested in learning how to do a shave biopsy or a punch biopsy.
- These simple but useful techniques for office general practice
will be taught in a scintillating one hour session.
Suturing Techniques 2:
- This is for the General Practitioner who performs minor surgery
in their office.
- Understand more about elliptical excisions and how to sew up an
incision with subcutaneous and subcuticular sutures.
- Management of dog ears and knowledge of a simple flap will also
be taught.
Suturing Techniques 3:
- For the more advanced General Practitioner, probably in the rural
areas, performing excision of basal and squamous cell carcinomas.
- This will consist of a practical, inter-reactive programme where
cases will be presented and the participants will suggest ways to
reconstruct areas with flaps.
- The indications for referral and what to do if one gets out of their
depth, will also be discussed.
