Non-permanent injectible filler can reduce folds and wrinkles and enlarge or restore lips.It is a natural product which comes in the form of a clear gel. Local anaesthetic cream or injection numbs the area and non-permanent injectible is placed under the skin with an instant effect. It is gradually broken down over time. Non-permanent injectible is excellent for folds which occur from the edge of the nose to the corner of the mouth (nasolabial) and folds that follow from the corners of the mouth to the chin. Lips can be increased in size and enhanced by outlining the vermilion border. Non-permanent injectible is more popular than Collagen due to the low incidence of allergy reactions and the longer lasting effects. It takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to perform and lasts four to six months. The cost of a non-permanent injectible treatment is around $275.00 to $445.00 depending on the amount of volume and the amount of area to be covered. Swelling and a small amount of bruising are possible after non-permanent injectible which usually resolves within a couple of days. |

Microdermabrasion is a treatment for skin on the face, chest and neck.In Microdermabrasion fine crystals abrade across the skin reducing the dead cell layer. An inbuilt vacuum removes the debris and crystals as well as stimulating the skin and enhancing cell turnover. It is an excellent deep clean for skin. The best results occur when it is performed in a series of sessions for example 3 to 5 sessions at approximately one to two weeks. The skin is cleansed, microdermabraded and then moisturised. It is popular with patients who are preparing for an event and wish to have their skin looking rejuvenated and clean. The effect is enhanced if the patient is using skin products with glycolic acid or Retin-A which helps reduce the build-up of dead cells on the skin. Microdermabrasion costs approximately $100.00 to $120.00 and it takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to perform. |

Chemical peels. The Skin Lab offers a series of chemical peels ranging from light glycolic peels to Jessner peels to TCA peels which can be performed by Dr Hodgkinson in the operating room. The chemicals in these peels, peel the skin and encourage new skin growth. As a result, the new skin has a fresher appearance and is more even in pigment with less freckling. The skin should first be assessed to determine the most appropriate treatment for you. A series of light office based peels is often a good way to start. Also, you may receive more benefit from the peel if you prepare your skin with glycolic acid products which can be suggested to you during the skin consultation. The cost of a peel is between $200.00 to $2000.00 depending on the type of peel. |
